Absentee father
When I first was led by the Lord to write From Faith to Faith, I believed that the number one issue in America was the absentee father. Having spent the past fifty years teaching Biblical truth to men in Texas prisons, juvenile detention centers and homeless shelters, I’m still convinced of this as statistics will clearly support. But as God has expanded Abiding Fathers into an international ministry, I now see that this is a worldwide, multi-cultural ‘pandemic’. Abortion, prison population, juvenile issues, gender confusion, women choosing single parenting, fathers abdicating their role, rising deaths from drug overdose/suicides, physical and sexual abuse, mass shootings, divisive school curriculum…shall I name more?
We now see God moving in the hearts and minds of men, fathers, here and abroad to embrace their God-ordained role. Men have been misled over the past several decades, believing their only role was…procreation, providing and protecting. Important, but not nearly all that God has called fathers to be. Discipleship, Biblical discipleship, is a dad’s primary role. Being present and engaged physically, emotionally, and spiritually is paramount to success.
Godly fatherhood movement
God has shown us that he has started a movement of godly fatherhood. Abiding Fathers and Padre de Corazón are being used by the Lord in ways we could not have dreamed. The ministries have become international, relational and generational, and God is using the discipleship message and challenge in thousands of men’s lives, and growing. Revival of the Biblical family has begun, and it will not stop until his purposes have been served.
Your family…our passion is how we view our mission. And it is anchored in God’s truth. “And he will turn the hearts of fathers to their children, and the hearts of the children to their fathers.” (Mal. 4.6a) Spiritually healthy fathers will ensure healthy families. Testimonies from dads in prison, churches, across parts of Africa, Cuba and Latin America are evidence of the Spirit’s transforming presence in a growing number of men (fathers, would-be fathers, grandfathers).
Redemption
God has started a good work to redeem the thing that is most dear to his heart, the family. It is his crown jewel, made in the image of the Father, Son, and Spirit. Then God said, “Let us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness” (Gen. 1.26a). He did, and ‘Then God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over…”’ (Gen. 1.28a) Over what? All of his creation! That is the family’s mission and purpose. God commanded it, and now he orchestrates it through his Spirit.
And dads, he has placed you in authority over your family, to lead in such a way that God will bless and prosper it. Plug into Abiding Fathers and Padre de Corazón. Let us help you understand your role, so you may fulfill your role…discipleship of the highest order. And wives and mothers, encourage and support your men to ‘be the dad…God wants them to be’. Glorify God through your family. He’s cheering for you, and so are we.
