Do you ever think deeply about your soul and its condition? I mean, really? We long for a lot of things; like a new job, a life mate, a new home, the end of a very hot summer. And our appetites, our hunger, is for so many things, none of which have to do with our soul. We take these things seriously, as if many of them were life or death, joy or unhappiness. Plainly, our longings and appetites are ever before us, some causing anxiety daily. Scripture would tell us to \u201cbe anxious for nothing, but in everything, by prayer and supplication, let your requests be made known unto God, and the peace of God which passes all understanding will guard your heart and mind in Christ Jesus<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n But what about our soul? What is it? It is the part of every human being that lasts eternally after the body experiences death. Genesis 35:18 describes the death of Rachel, Jacob\u2019s wife, saying she named her son as her soul was departing<\/u>. From this we know that the soul is different from the body and that she continues to live after physical death.<\/em><\/p>\n It refers to a whole person with consciousness, desires and emotions.\u00a0\u201cAnd do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather fear him who can destroy both soul and body in hell.\u201d <\/em>So, maybe we should examine our soul regularly, in prayer, scripture and sound teaching. Sounds like the condition of our soul is far more important than our physical lives. Look at God\u2019s promise\u2026he satisfies the longing soul, and he fills the hungry soul with good things. <\/em><\/p>\n \u201cBlessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.\u201d <\/em><\/strong>(Mt. 5.6)<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" The peace of God Do you ever think deeply about your soul and its condition?
