Resurrected life

I am certain that each of you has a memorable spiritual experience this Easter. Mine was especially meaningful as Joanne and I worshiped with her sister, Sue, at Cornerstone Presbyterian Church in Franklin, Tennessee. Meaningful because this was the building that was First Baptist Church when I was growing up, and I was baptized at 12 at that church. Yes, they have the same wooden pews which creaked when you stood up and when you sat down. Very nostalgic. Lots of memories.

But even more meaningful was the message delivered based on the verses set forth above. What really was powerful to me is the realization that we can daily live in a new resurrected life in Christ. So many things attract us away from that relationship. But if you analyze these verses, you see that it’s because of God’s great mercy he’s allowed us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Christ. And this resurrection life is an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled and unfading. And it’s being kept in heaven for us. May I hear some hallelujahs?

Power of God

Verse 5 goes on to say; “who by God’s power are being guarded through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time”. Guarded by God’s power!! And we receive and live in it today by faith. So, let’s not waste our time here on things less than the new resurrection life. Our salvation at the last time will be just that much more glorious!!
