A time to remember

Memorial Day… is more than a picnic. It is a time to remember. A time to be grateful, a time to make a resolve to honor what has gone on before us through our dedication to our God and our nation. Over 250 years ago, God led a band of faithful people to launch a new frontier. God had a purpose and he continues to have the same purpose for us as Americans. They weren’t living just for themselves, and neither should we. It didn’t come without costs. Countless millions, mostly young men, have given their lives over the years for something bigger than themselves.

Jesus paid it all

America is a very special nation because it was created and sustained by a very special Lord; Jesus, the Christ. Thousands of years before America was even a dream, Jesus paid the ultimate price with his own life. He brought salvation to a sinful world. Today, many voices are trying to reshape this great nation. But, from where I sit, I believe they are battling against the Creator of America.

So, what do you and I do who love this country and love the One who created her? As we remember, I say we need to resolve to follow him daily, pray as never before, believing that he will do great and mighty things still in and through the people of America. Additionally, we need to serve others, care for the widows, orphans, the poor and the needy, the homeless, and the incarcerated. We need to be very concerned about the least of these as that is what Jesus came and taught and modeled. We need to preach the gospel, in season and out of season. We need to disciple the next generation with the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Lead your family

And dads, we need to step up and lead our families and in doing so, we will be leading the next three or four generations. A call worthy of giving our life, which will honor those who fought and died, and bring glory to God. Blessings on you and your families as we “remember” today.
