Personal promises from God

A promise

“Because he loves me,” says the Lord, “I will rescue him; I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name. He will call on me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him. With long life I will satisfy him and show him my salvation” (Psa. 91. 14-16 NIV).

Of course, the ‘he’ is probably the author of one of the most beautiful psalms. A strong song of faith, it is reasoned that it was penned by Moses. But we know that the ‘he’ can be each of us who are in Christ. Our last message addressed the opening to this psalm. Above are the closing verses where God is speaking to his servant. It is a summation and promise of what the author addresses in vss. 3-13. It demonstrates clearly what faith in the Lord provides. I encourage you to read and meditate on the entire psalm on your own.

Can you imagine the Creator God of the universe saying these things to you personally and audibly?

A message

“Greetings John/Mary (insert your name), this is God calling. I am so pleased with your love for me. It touches the depth of my heart. I will go to what extent it takes to rescue you from any issues that you have knowingly and unknowingly gotten into. If there is danger involved I will protect you because you’re always calling my name and you acknowledge me as the one that is your refuge and fortress. I’ve always loved the way you call on me knowing that I will answer you when you do. If you get into any kind of trouble, small or great, I am here to deliver you, you know that. I will go so far as to even honor you through it all. I’m making these promises to you. Your love for me encourages me to provide you with a long, fruitful, abundant life here on earth, and to top it off, my salvation is yours for eternity.”

“I have really enjoyed our conversation today. And by the way, my deep, deep love for you was expressed when I gave you my Son. Thank you for believing in him and trusting him when he said that he was the way, the truth, and the life and that no one could come to me except through him. You pleased him greatly. Made his trip to earth and back home worth every ounce of blood he had to shed.” Till we speak again, God.

Draw near to God

Right now, with all this upheaval in our lives, it is maybe a once in a lifetime gift to draw really near to God so he can draw near to you. He truly wants that. Psalm 91 guarantees it.
