Know thy enemy!

Be the Dad

God’s truth

Consider for a moment that you are seated at the feet of your heavenly Father, with Christ and the Spirit present. He asks about what seems to be troubling you. You address the ongoing issue of an enemy of yours that is unrelenting and wreaks havoc in so many areas of your life. And that you seem to be defenseless. God immediately reminds you that “greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world”. You think, ‘I’ve read that, but maybe I don’t really believe it’. God knows what you’re thinking, so he begins to address ways that he’s already revealed in his truth.

Spiritual power

It might go like this. ‘My son, I have spoken certain things that you can rely on to be victorious. Timidly, you ask, ‘what might they be?’ “They are right there in the letter the Spirit wrote through My apostle, Peter. They are not burdensome and, amazingly, quite simple.”

“Humble yourself under My mighty hand so at the right time I can exalt you. And cast all your worries and anxieties on Me because I really care for you. In the midst of all of this, you are to be sober-minded, always being watchful. I know that your adversary, the devil, Satan, prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. Nothing escapes Me. But you have a responsibility to resist your enemy. But you are to resist him with spiritual power, not by weak works of the flesh. I must say that you will possibly suffer through this on occasions but be encouraged. All of my people around the world in all ages have suffered in similar ways. You are not alone. But after you have suffered a little, as the God of all grace who has actually called you to My eternal glory in Christ, I will restore, confirm, strengthen and establish you. That brings Me glory.”

You look up and humbly ask the Father to please have His Son keep interceding for you and the Spirit to keep guiding and counseling you as you admit that you can not do it on your own. The Father says to you, “I’m glad you came to Me with this issue and I love having these little chats with My people. And as a reminder, My Son humbled himself to the point of death on the cross and He now sits at my right hand. That’s why we can sit here having this chat today.”
