Have you ever thought of yourself that way? More valuable than a lot of the most common of birds? On the surface it doesn’t appear you’re worth much. Cheer up, let’s look deeper. These words were expressed by Jesus to his disciples. He was making a point that we should not fear those who can only kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Then, he makes his point. “Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? And not one of them will fall to the ground apart from your Father.” He goes on to say…“but even the hairs of your head are all numbered”.

That’s Jesus’ way of saying that if God is so concerned about the hairs on your head and the plight of his sparrows, how much more you! How did God prove this with his actions? “So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them. And God blessed them” (Gen. 1.27,28a). And even when we sinned and became his enemies, he implemented his plan of redemption. It goes like this.

The Father sent his only begotten Son to earth to be born and live in the flesh. Jesus lived obediently and went to the cross, was crucified, dead and buried. Not for himself, but for you and me. Redemption!! But then he did the remarkable. He raised his son from the dead to provide life everlasting for those who believe on his name by faith. Not only that, but he has ascended to the right hand of the Father, and he is praying as our intercessor because he loves us that much. Are you precious to God, am I? Am I valuable to God, are you? Easter says it in spades!! It’s a resounding YES!! Allelujah!
