Discord among the Body of Christ
A recipe for joy-filled living. It’s not speaking of family members, although that may be the case. It is addressing the Body of Christ. For it to even be stated would indicate that there is disunity. Just start with the denominational level of the church, here in America and around the world. So many denominations differing in mostly methods of worship and interpretation of Scripture. The world outside the church must be very confused. Many times, even with your own church family, there is discord over so many issues.
If we can’t find unity inside the church, how can we expect our nation, our world to not be divided. Political, racial, ethnic, marital, financial; today we see so much strife and disagreement. I am reminded of Jesus’ words as recorded in Mark 3. 24,25. “If a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand. And if a house is divided against itself, that house will not be able to stand.” Other than ourselves, our greatest enemy is Satan. He loves it when families fight, when churches fight when the house is divided.
Unify
It is clear why Jesus commanded the small group of disciples to stay in Jerusalem after his ascension and to wait. Look what happens. “When the day of Pentecost arrived, they were all together in one place” (Acts 2.4). I can only imagine that they were in prayer, full of anticipation. And suddenly the Holy Spirit fell upon them like a rushing wind and they began to speak in other languages, the truth of the gospel. Wow, talk about results! So, my friend in Christ, do you want to see mighty things in your lifetime? Well, the answer is in unity. Leave it to the Spirit to do the rest.
