The Law
Over the past several months I’ve noticed a growing phenomena at intersections. People are deliberately running red lights. Is it the lack of respect for law, life or limb, impatient, selfish, stupidity or just like to live dangerously? Maybe the reduced police presence on the streets gives them liberty. Whatever, it is really dangerous, and sad.
Laws are meant for our good; at least most. And another trend of many is the lack of respect for any of our nation’s laws. God knows, actually knew, that fallen sinners are capable of anything. Thus, the flood. He formed a people, Israel, and gave them the Law, starting with the Ten Commandments. It was to protect them, even prosper them by keeping his Law.
Biblical truth
Further, there is a growing total disregard for Biblical truth/law. They don’t want to be governed, don’t want boundaries. Even when it is best for them. Joshua was taking over a monumental task from Moses. God knew what he was facing so he spoke to him and encouraged him to meditate on his word day and night. Why? “so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.”
God loves us. He would not put a noose around our neck by providing Biblical truth. He has our total best interest. “All scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work” (2 Tim 3.16). Trust God’s Law, and be careful at intersections.
