The nation of Israel had grown to over a million people in 430 years from a mere 75. They had become the labor force for Pharaoh in Egypt. It shows that they were to the point of groaning. It was not as if God had turned his back on them and closed his ears and eyes. They were his people, chosen by him. The Psalmist reminds us; “Behold, He who keeps Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep” (Vs. 121.4). He had already prophesied that they would be there for 70 years. Look carefully at what God does.
Heard his people’s groaning;
Remembered his covenant;
Looked upon his people;
Acknowledged his people.
Have you ever been there, in their shoes, or maybe you are now? Possibly you have wondered if God is even listening, let alone seeing your circumstances. Might he know everything that you are facing and simply is accomplishing more than you can imagine? He is not your valet—he is your Sanctifier and Deliverer! He wants you to trust him implicitly. Lean into this.
You are Israel
“I will lift up my eyes to the hills from whence comes my help? My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth. He will not allow your foot to be moved; he who keeps you will not slumber” (Psa. 121.1-3).
His eyes are wide open, his ears are attuned to your cries. Be still and know that he is God. Wait for him to deliver you. He promised that he would never leave you nor forsake you. As a Believer, you are Israel. He heard, he remembered, he looked upon and he acknowledged. What else would you expect from a loving Father?
