Biblical truth
Stand up… speak out is a call to each of us in this very divisive time of our country, which by the way is merely composed of a nation of millions of families. Dads, it’s beyond time to stand strong, firm in your convictions about Biblical truth and to act decisively for the family God has entrusted to you as their earthly shepherd. Bombs are dropping and your family is the target. As opposed to the bumper sticker I see on pick-ups mainly. “Get in, sit down, buckle up, shut up!” That simply will not work any longer.
Fathers, your family is under attack as never before in my lifetime. To go along, bitching and moaning, (sorry) and stay silent is a formula for destruction. A year ago I read (no, devoured) Bonhoeffer by Eric Metaxas. Dietrich Bonhoeffer, a Christian living in the time of Hitler and the German plan to purify their race by exterminating all Jews, was mostly a lone voice in that cruel era. The Church went silent and the world paid a great price. He was martyred for his stance; but, he took one! Wonder how he was greeted by the Lord? “Thank you, Dietrich my son, enter into My presence. Well Done!!”
Be bold
We are there, whether you recognize it or not. I just cannot stay silent and watch my two children and five grandchildren, not counting their children, being captured by the principalities of darkness that are steadily creeping across our land. Each father has the spiritual responsibility, and might I add, authority, to disciple his family for the gospel of Jesus Christ. Christ is the sole answer for the issues that face us, and the people around us. What will they see in us? A close our eyes, go to work and maybe it’ll get better type of dad; or one who leads, speaks up, initiates, empowers?
No man is taller than when he is on his knees with lifted hands. The battle can and must be won starting there. I was recently told, and I really believe it—“God runs His universe, His kingdom, through the prayers of His people.” Our boldness comes from the Word, and our obedience to it. God is looking for ‘sold-out, all-in’ dads committed to Him and the family He has provided them. Are you one, am I? While it starts on our knees, we must get up, speak out and use the full armor of God for ultimate victory. As a Believer, you know the war has been won on the cross, but there are battles to be fought to secure the beachheads—your family!
Be strong
“Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, And after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, And with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people” (Eph. 6. 10-18).
