Rwanda
We are receiving fatherhood testimonies from various parts of the world. Today, we were visiting by Zoom with our leaders in Rwanda. Two of their trusted facilitators jumped on for a few minutes and shared their heart about what the ministry had meant to them and was going to mean to their country. One shared this. “The discipleship training has changed my life completely, saying I feel…born again”. Can you even imagine what God can do through one man whose life has been completely impacted by God’s truth found in the fatherhood material? He is ‘all in’!
Earlier in the week, a pastor shared that after taking the training, he felt like a ‘new Christian’. We received nine new testimonial videos from Rwanda by men who have completed the training in the Eastern Province. Most are pastors. Their family life has been turned upside down. For the first time ever telling their wives and children that they love them. Actually praying with their children and teaching them how to read and understand the word of God as well as leading their children to saving faith. Remember, these are pastors in Christ’s church. Listening to their family, suddenly understanding their wives have lots of wisdom to share, not just them.
The Holy Spirit
Born again is correct. ‘Born from above’ is what is happening right before their eyes. A true revival!! The Holy Spirit is creating a ‘new man’ who will in turn, impact several generations in their families. Pastors openly weeping with each other. This is a movement of God, and they understand that. They want to follow Paul’s pattern that he spoke to Timothy.
“You then, my child, be strengthened by the grace that is in Christ Jesus, and what you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses entrust to faithful men, who will be able to teach others also” (2 Tim. 1,2).
Equipping fathers
These ‘new creations’, enlightened pastors and ministry leaders, are seizing the opportunity to ‘train the trainers’ who will equip the fathers in their congregations. As a part of this, the largest denomination in Rwanda, with 3,000 churches and millions of members, has caught the vision, and their top 155 leaders (see photo above) are being discipled by our leaders. They believe it is the key to significantly transforming the families in their denomination.
These men are being fed with God’s truth. They are spiritually hungry and sense a need in their land. When God sees this, wherever, he responds. But there must be a desire for renewal. “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied” (Mt. 5.6). I know these men and women have been praying for revival for some time. And God is answering!
“If my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land” (2 Chron. 7.14). We are witnessing this in Africa, beginning in Rwanda. Only God could inspire the writing of a book on fatherhood by a person in America twelve years ago and use the discipleship message to transform fathers and families of another nation. To Him be the glory!
