God cares
As I started driving away from the Aerobics Center last week, I paused to watch numerous blackbirds feeding on the ground. I also noticed quite a few squirrels in the pecan trees. The squirrels were having a feast on the pecans and the droppings to the ground were being consumed by the blackbirds. It was so compelling that I stayed there for at least five minutes watching this happen. I was consumed with the thought of how God cares for his creation, even the squirrels and those blackbirds. In this case, both at the same time with one assisting the other. God doesn’t miss a beat.
See God at work
The Matthew verse jumped out at me as I was watching this happen. I thought, ‘Bill, you realize that God has fed you and your family all the days of your life’. Just like these two creatures, you have been well cared for. I was further reminded of my life verse in Matthew 6:33. “But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.” These things are referring to food, clothing, and shelter. What a God we serve. He sits in his glory above the heavens which he created, yet he still knows when we’re hungry and even when a sparrow falls to the ground.
I find it thrilling to be able to go through the day seeing God at work in so many small and great ways. We don’t have to look far to see them. Make sure you keep your eyes peeled for your next God moment.
