AWOL

ABSENT…is a state of not being in a place at a given time, or missing as opposed to present. Like being absent from a meeting or class. AWOL was a term first used in the Confederate Army and now the U.S military. It describes those who were not present at their post or duty without official permission but without intending to desert. “Absent without leave.”

Dads, are you present, manning your post; or absent without your family’s permission? You say; “I never intend to desert them so what’s the big deal? Am I to be there 24/7?” Let’s examine that? When you are present, are you there emotionally; are you really manning your post? So many men today use their careers as their excuse. There’s no real 9-5 anymore. The job goes with me, especially online! “I must take this call, meet this urgent deadline, etc.” For the most part, our career makes us feel important; gives us respect; it’s where our identity lies.

Small positive investments

You cannot be with them every moment, but what you impart to your children will go with them 24/7 for the rest of their lives. They are watching and listening. Even a small positive investment in them will reap incredible returns. God will see to it. He is your best ‘Investment Banker’!

Guys, I challenge you…

examine your priorities,
make adjustments where necessary,
monitor your daily routine,
lighten your load,
make time for the Lord,
make room for the family,
be spontaneous and creative,
be there when you’re there,
always show them you care!!
